Planning your dream vacation can feel like a herculean task. Luckily, you’re not going to Greece, you’re headed to Geneva Switzerland, where everything is just a little bit easier and breezier. We see you, future tourists, and we’re here to help. So, before you go off searching for hotels and restaurants, make sure you follow these 3 easy steps to get you prepared!
Step 1: Make a Plan
Vacations are meant to be breaks from the hectic uncertainty of everyday life, not contributing factors! Before you do anything else, you need to make sure you have a plan for your vacation. You don’t have to schedule every hour of the day, but there are a few things you need to make note of immediately. These things include, but are not limited to:
- What Are The Dates? If you plan on booking anything at all in advance, you can’t just get plane tickets on any old day! Make sure you have a specific set of dates in mind for your vacation – that way you can look for events, reservations, and hotel rooms that will have space for you on those dates! Take note of the season you’re visiting during, as well as the weather on the dates you plan to arrive. Will it be cold? Warm? Extremely cold? This will help you pack, and will give you a better idea of what activities to choose.
- Who’s Coming With? You can’t make a reservation for two and show up with five, now can you? Whether you’re traveling with a loved one, a whole family, or solo, it’s important to count heads before you take off. Knowing who you’re traveling with means knowing which events would be the most appropriate to schedule, which restaurants would have the best options, and even how much to pack! Try your best to avoid last-minute cancellations!
- What Are You Looking For? Are you coming to Geneva to learn the history of its involvement in world politics? Are you more interested in the artistry in its museums or being there for a culturally important festival? Or would you prefer just to drink wine and eat Swiss chocolate until sunset. Geneva has a little something for everyone, but knowing what it is you want out of it will help you greatly. Search for events that suit the needs and tastes of everyone in your group. Trust us, you’ll thank us later.
Step 2: Get Packing
It’s always important to know what to pack no matter where you go. Here are some tips from us to you on what’s most important to bring to Geneva.
- Pack Warm! Especially if you’re visiting during winter, it’s extremely important that you stay bundled up and cozy up here. Pack warm clothes, a coat, rain-resistant boots, and long-sleeve, comfortable pajamas for your stay. Periodically monitor the weather in the area before you arrive so you have a better sense of how warm to stay.
- Stay Healthy! With the COVID-19 pandemic here to stay, it’s important that you stay as healthy and safe as humanly possible when traveling anywhere. Make sure you pack hand sanitizer, disinfecting wipes, a first-aid kit, and, of course, your vaccine card.
- Pack For Hobbies! If you plan to come during the winter, we highly recommend bringing skiing gear such as ski socks, mittens, and lip balm. There are plenty of lovely places to ski during the winter months, and it would be a shame to have to buy everything on vacation.
